Version v1.2.4

Definition

The ability to deliver feedback in a form likely to be received and converted into improvement: specific, actionable, and dignity-preserving.

Poles

Each HES element is a spectrum, not a category: the Low and High poles describe how it presents at its two extremes, while the Reference marks the typical, everyday middle. The poles map variation across the range — neither end is inherently better or worse.

Low Pole

Feedback is vague or wounding; triggers defensiveness and relationship cost.

High Pole

Feedback is clear and usable; recipient knows what to change and why.

Reference

Good downward; weaker upward/peer (or the reverse).

Measure

Primary: Adoption Rate — frequency of real behavioral change following feedback.

Measuring Methods

Feedback → action plan → follow-up verification; track relational impact.

Empirical Anchor

Feedback delivery skill / feedback-giving effectiveness; constructive feedback (Ilgen et al., 1979); SBI model (situation-behavior-impact).

Notes

Distinct from diplomacy: feedback is a specific interaction format.
