Emotional LayerMML-4

Version v2.0

Definition

A low-intensity anger response triggered by minor, repeated friction or annoyance, organizing micro-corrections and boundary signaling with relatively stable control.

Mechanism

Minor boundary-friction signal activates low-level correction; control remains intact but patience threshold lowers with accumulation.

Trigger–Appraisal–Function

• Trigger: Minor, repeated friction or annoyance.
• Appraisal: “This shouldn’t be happening / stop that.”
• Function: Signal micro-boundaries and prompt small corrections.

Observable Output

• Short, controlled protest; snappier tone; low tolerance for repetition.
• Quick corrective requests; minor avoidance of the irritant.
• Attention pulled to small disruptions; reduced patience.
• Somatic: mild tension; not full mobilization.

Episode Profile

Onset: minutes. Peak: stable low-level; can accumulate. Duration: minutes–hours. Recovery: resolves with removal of irritant or rest; can escalate into anger. KEY METRIC: accumulation rate; escalation frequency.

Dysregulation Risk

Accumulation without correction → escalation into anger or chronic snapping pattern.

Change Potential

Regulation Trainability = High. Susceptibility Shift = High (sleep, sensory load, workload).

Empirical Anchor

Low-intensity anger variant; sensory gating and irritability (Caprara et al., 1985).
