Poles
Each HES element is a spectrum, not a category: the Low and High poles describe how it presents at its two extremes, while the Reference marks the typical, everyday middle. The poles map variation across the range — neither end is inherently better or worse.
Low mentoring orientation: dislikes teaching; sees it as overhead; prefers doing it alone or demanding results without development.
Enjoys developing others; explains, supports, invests time in team growth.
Selective mentoring: toward motivated/talented people or within close circles.
Measure
Measuring Methods
• Observation: feedback quality; patience for mistakes.
• Behavioral indicators: time allocation to training.
Empirical Anchor
Notes
• Risks at MIN: team stagnation; “everyone for themselves.”
• Risks at MAX: resource drain; burnout; creating dependence.
