Poles
Each HES element is a spectrum, not a category: the Low and High poles describe how it presents at its two extremes, while the Reference marks the typical, everyday middle. The poles map variation across the range — neither end is inherently better or worse.
Principles shift with convenience; frequent double standards; “rules for others, exceptions for me/us.”
Stable rule application across contexts; can revise principles explicitly, not silently and opportunistically.
Consistent in private life, but bends under status pressure, coalition incentives, or conflict escalation.
Measure
